Phuket: General Information
Located just over 800km to the South of Bangkok lies Thailand’s largest island, Phuket. Nestled in the Andaman Sea and the Indian Ocean, the island’s white-sand beaches, abundance of dining, entertainment and activities makes Phuket a popular choice for many visitors.
The villas on Phuket are splendid. With its hilly topography, many hillside villas enjoy breathtaking views of the sea and neighboring islands. Those villas on the beach are privy to the white-sand, palm-fringed quintessential beach that one sees on postcards. Villas for sale in Phuket are quite reasonably priced compared to many more developed markets worldwide, oftentimes giving you more than you’d expect for your money.
There are a number of different purchase options available to the overseas buyer and most property developers will offer buyers both freehold and leasehold alternatives. The property which sits on the land may be purchased by the individual or a company such as a BVI (British Virgin Islands) company set up by the buyer.
It is usual for the purchaser to set up a BVI company which holds the lease on the land and the property freehold title. If the BVI option is taken it makes the resale process very simple as the company can simply be transferred to the new owner and changes to the land title and lease are unnecessary.
